Dovado are currently advising that the latest Telstra firmware for the Sierra Wireless 320U 4G/LTE modem will cause the modem to stop working with their TINY, 4GR and DOMA routers. They will release a fix for this interoperability issue in the next Dovado firmware release, presumably Dovado firmware 6.1.4, which I’d estimate will be available in a matter of days rather than weeks. (The Dovado firmware version at time of writing is 6.1.3.)

Is Sierra Wireless Aircard 320u supports both TDD & FDD modes?
I’ll have to get back to you on that. The Sierra Wireless website isn’t clear on that.

I’ve read the 320u was both TDD and FDD on another site – “Earlier versions of the Telstra branded Sierra Wireless 320U USB modem do not support Telsra’s 4G LTE service. These earlier 320U’s were 4G-LTE-1800 in TDD mode only. Telstras 4G LTE service uses FDD mode. At some point after Telstra rolled ou 4G LTE, Sierra began supplying these modems to Telstra with an updated chipset supporting 4G-LTE-1800 in FDD mode”
Is the firmware upgrade still a problem 2013 – or is the comments timestamp here broken?
I have a Tiny and have just picked up a second hand 320u. Now I’m concerned it may not work.
@replicant The FDD info came from Dovado – I generally bow to their greater wisdom. However things move on quickly with 4G devices. Let us know how you get on with the 320U.
The modem firmware issue was resolved with 6.1.4 in 2012.
